I really need to separate this post out from the other posts. I can't express how much excited I am to see the new menswear collection from Burberry Prorsum. Burberry well-known for its British gentlemen attire and the famous Burberry checked pattern, also when you think of trench coat, you think of Burberry. So to be honest, I never really get excitement from the Burberry menswear show. But this time, it is all different.
Christopher Bailey funneled his artistic passion into this amazing St. Ives, painter, journey inspired collection. Large scale graphic pattern, vibrant yet toned down colour, painted checked, city map pattern and fish net vest, nothing button up and nothing tricky to wear. This laid- back and comfortable collection just so much suitable for artist to paint whole day long in their studio even it is layers.
Christopher Bailey said his inspiration was “painters on a journey, romantic painters with a masculine point of view” and he successfully create a collection by his own expression yet looks “Burberry”. The designer also said he was inspired in particular artist, Lucian Freud, Ben Nicholson, Christopher Wood and Duncan Grant, four Brits who painted landscapes and portraits.
So, here is the amazing collection.
